Five checks before you use a rewrite

October 6, 2026 · 4 min read

Numbers and units. Open the meaning check first. A lost percent sign, a rounded figure or a changed year is the most common error of any paraphraser, and the easiest to miss by eye. If a figure is flagged, fix it by hand rather than rerunning: the next run can lose a different one.

Hedges. "May", "suggests", "is associated with" carry the honesty of a claim. Rewrites like to turn them into "is" and "causes". Search the result for your original qualifiers and put back any that went missing.

Names and citations. A name spelled slightly differently, a reference moved to the wrong sentence, a quote reworded: all three happen. Quotes should never be rewritten; if your draft contains one, paste it back exactly.

Invented detail. At the stronger settings the engine occasionally adds a sentence that was never in your draft, because it looked plausible. The diff view shows every added word in green. Anything you did not write and do not know to be true goes.

Voice. Read the result aloud once. If a sentence is not something you would say, change it, or pick another version. The point is a text that sounds like you, not a text that sounds like nobody.
