Cookie policy
Last updated October 7, 2026
Samesay uses only the cookies and browser storage the service needs to work. None is used for advertising, profiling or cross-site tracking, and we do not load third-party analytics or ad scripts.
Cookies we set
- Sign-in cookie (set by our authentication system): keeps you signed in and protects your session against forgery. Strictly necessary. Lasts until you sign out, or 7 days of inactivity.
- Device identifier (gid): only set if we offer free tries without an account, to limit them; together with a browser storage entry and a hashed browser fingerprint. Strictly necessary for that feature. Lasts one year. Never shared.
- Referral cookie (ref): set only when you open a referral link (/r/name). It remembers the name of the link for 90 days so that, if you create an account in that time, the person who referred you gets credit. It holds no personal data. Functional; you can ignore the link or clear the cookie.
- Bot check (Cloudflare Turnstile): only when a free try without an account is offered, may set a cookie to tell people from bots. Strictly necessary for that feature.
Browser storage
- Session storage: the draft you typed on the home page before creating an account, so it is waiting for you in the editor afterwards. Cleared when you use it or close the tab. It never leaves your browser until you ask for a rewrite from your account.
- Local storage: small interface preferences, such as a dismissed notice. Nothing that identifies you.
Third parties
When you pay, you are taken to Stripe's checkout pages, which set their own cookies under Stripe's policy. If you sign in with Google, Google sets cookies under its policy. Nothing else on our pages comes from third parties.
Your choices
Because every cookie listed here is strictly necessary for a feature you choose to use, consent is not required and there is no banner to accept. You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings; the service will then not keep you signed in. If we ever add analytics or any non-essential cookie, we will ask for your consent first and update this page.
